Alan Piddington was born in 1910, he was a butcher by trade and was living in Ealing with his widowed mother at the outbreak of World War II. He joined the RAF in December 1942 and was trained in instrument repairs, he was stationed at RAF Brize Norton and RAF Harwell. From July 1943 to January 1944 he served in Iceland.

The page above is from Alan's RAF Service & Release Book, it shows that he was discharged in 1946, after the war he returned to butchering, the two photos below show the shop Alan managed in Shepherds Bush and him with some of the staff.
Alan never married and lived with his mother until she died in 1979, but he loved to travel visiting Spain, Italy, Turkey & Austria etc, he wrote stories and he also loved to draw using a variety of mediums the below are just three of the many pictures he did.
